How you can help

I'm not asking you to help me, I'm encouraging you to help those who need it. There is so much good will and generosity in Plymouth with plenty of opportunities to give an hour or so of your time each week. That simple act can make such a difference to the lives of those who are receiving your time.

For example, I started helping at the youth club after getting injured playing football on a Thursday night. My wife, Lisa, needed a hand so I went along. Those two hours were some of the most enjoyable of my life. The young people responded well, they wanted to talk and to share, they wanted direction and they wanted to build a positive relationship with adults as more often than not that hasn't happened for them. I found such fulfilment that I have only missed a session when I was on my honeymoon! I have seen the young people grow, develop, change and transform their lives. And all they've needed is someone there to listen should it be going a little bit wrong.

Find a charity or organisation you agree with, whether it be young people, animals, the elderly, nature and wildlife, and give them a call. It won't just change their lives, it will change yours.

Get involved

This can include many different ways of giving from money to time to food to walking a dog etc. Whatever you choose, make sure it's something you're passionate about.

Promote your charity/organisation/event/fundraising activity

We're happy to run stories on any events charities and not-for-profit organisations have got coming up so please feel free to contact us with that information. We are working on adding an event's calendar to the site at present so please bear with us on that one. We also have a directory that is FREE for charities to be in so fill out the form on the site and we'll get you added.
